Frequently Asked Questions
What
are the differences between the Replica and the Copyette EH
121?
The
Copyette EH has erase heads, side
select (you can choose the record side A or side A & B) and a
protective hard cover.
The
Replica does not have erase head, side select or
a protective hard cover.
The Replica is about half the size of the
Copyette and weighs about 7 pounds (the Copyette EH 121 weights
about 10 pounds). However, it will reproduce both sides of a
cassette simultaneously and a soft sided carry case is offered
as an accessory.
Is the Copyette EH Series Expandable?
No, the Copyette's are not expandable. Other
Telex Series are expandable for large scale bulk copying, please
ask.
Does the Copyette EH have erase heads?
Yes, the Copyette had erase heads added in
August 1995, the previous model Copyette does/did not have erase
heads. (The EH in Copyette EH signifies the erase feature.)
How
fast do the Telex Duplicators copy? Most Telex Duplicators copy at 16x normal
speed, when operated on 60Hz (USA) power mains. Which means you
can copy a C-60 cassette in about 2 minutes. (There will also be
about a minute rewind time). Some machines will operate at a slightly
reduced speed when operated at 50Hz (UK) power used in some parts
of the world. Telex has one system, the 6120 XLP, that runs at
8x normal speed.
What
types of tapes are used in the Telex Duplicators? All
Telex Duplicators are set for normal bias tapes (ferric, "low
noise").
The only units that can be set for chrome or high bias
tapes are the ACC 4000 XL and 6120
systems.
Telex suggest you use a good quality C-30,
60, or 90 minute cassette. Some inexpensive tapes can cause poor-quality
recordings, premature tape head wear, and some inexpensive tapes
may bind up or stretch when used at high speeds.
Telex do not recommend that C-120 tapes are
used since they are likely to stretch or break.
